How to Use the Interactive Video Feature in Deck.Toys
JuneTrim videos and prevent video skipping? Add in interactive Slide Apps? Integrate video with Slide Activities into a fun lesson adventure? Deck.Toys’ Interactive Video Feature can do all that! Read on to learn how!
Embed, Search & Trim Videos, and Prevent video skipping!
First you will need to be on your Deck Builder. Drag and drop a Slide & Video Activity into the Map and click on this Activity to enter. Click on the button ‘Interactive Video’ to embed a YouTube video.
You can key in a YouTube link directly into the search box, or use the in-built search function to find relevant videos for your lessons. Narrow your search by filtering to either Khan Academy, National Geographic, Numberphile, TED or CrashCourse. Click ‘Select Video’ at the bottom right of the screen.
Click on ‘Trim / Edit Video‘ to allow you to edit length or skip over different areas of the video by dragging the marker.
Many teachers also love our option to prevent video skipping to ensure that students do not just skip forward the video to the next activity. This forces them to view the entire video before they can proceed.
Check Understanding & Engage Your Students
For formative assessments, you can use the Lock Slide App and the MCQ Slide App, placed at checkpoints anywhere within the video.
You can also engage your students with a multitude of interactive Slide Apps, such as Quick Poll, Draw, Text, Placemarker, Photo, Upload and Voice Slide Apps! Use the Web Link Slide App at any point of the marker onto the video image to provide more information or context to students who may need extra reference.
Simply drag the marker to the time at which you want the Slide App to appear on the video, then drag the Slide App to the video image.
If you are using a 360o video, move/rotate the video image to the position that you would like to place the Slide App.
1 complete lesson package with Video and Slides
It is so easy to integrate your slides and video lessons into one lesson package! Add a new Slide with the + button on the top left of the page to increase student understanding, seamlessly integrating the Video and the Slide Activity in one location.
Alternatively, you could use the Split Video function such that the students will automatically be brought to the next second of the video seamlessly at the next activity. You can then insert another Slide in between these video clips, with your own PowerPoint, PDF or Doc files.
